Geeks everywhere were set a twitter when Nike teased the release of the Air Mag sneakers based on the ones Marty McFly wears in Back to the Future, Part II. Had we reached 2015 early? Apparently not, because the shoes don’t actually lace themselves. They do light up, though.
The 1,500 pairs are being auctioned off on eBay 50 at a time for 10 days to benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
If anything we did get a fun Back For The Future commercial/short featuring the new shoes. It stars Bill Hader, Kevin Durant, Donald Fullilove (the would be Mayor of Hill Valley) and of course Christopher Lloyd reprising the role of Doc Emmitt Brown.
Back For The Future treats us to some “clever” nods to the classic films, plus the iconic sequence of the DeLorean launching off through time. However, the part that really made me giggle is the name of the short’s Editor.
Take a look.
